What a weird week

So my ex sister in law cheated on my brother and left him and my niece out to dry. She goes back and forth on wanting custody and not wanting custody. My brother had a court date for Oct 1. We all assumed everything would go fine. The judge has already given custody to my brother so we all thought it would go the same way again. Both parties are re-married, and my ex-sister in law has a newborn at home.

However, the social worker has for some reason reccomended that custody go to the mother. There was no indication as to why, my brother has always provided, my niece is in a loving home, three months into school and getting straight A's. Why would anyone reccomend changing that? There was nothing on the form to indicate why it was reccomended for the mother but it seems that it usually defaults that way.

The court date has been postponed again. This is seriously just draining me. This past 2 weeks has been nothing but a roller coaster between family members losing their jobs, the court date getting postponed etc... The plus side is that the social worker will be on the stand and judge overseeing the trialame judge who awarded my brother custody in the first place.

So that has been taking up my time lately....just worrying about my niece and brother.

Things I learned this week

1. When my boss asks me what I think of something, he really doesn't want to know. He just wants his idea repeated back to him along with the phrase "That sounds great"

2. The cast for the Christmas show I am in is full of nerds. We had a 20 minute conversation involving Star Wars and Superman before the director old us to keep it down.

3. When a Special Report comes on TV, it does NOT mean that someone found my keys.

4. When I am playing my DS on the train and a lady comes up and yells at me to give up my seat cause she is pregnant, do NOT respond by saying, "Oh, sorry, I thought you were just fat"

5. Not everyone gets my sense of humor.

I think I'm a little wiser for the journey taken...

It's "uterus", not "uteryou"

Long week last week...

My uncle's brother died in a motorcycle accident last week and so I went home to attend the funeral on Thursday. I remembered him from when I was a kid but was more there for my aunt and uncle and cousins....and as a sidenote, let me just say that Greyhound sucks.

Anyhoo, I got to meet my brother's new wife and my (new) nephew. Both of which are awesome. She had a special edition speech by Obama at the DNC four years ago that she gave me (she is also a Hillary-then-Obama supporter) and my new nephew loves Star Wars and comics and video games so we had something to talk about! So..the family is growing in a good way!

Now if only my parents would allow my boyfriend in the house......

PS: I love this picture of me and my niece.

Caution: Nerdy Blog Ahead

Superman Reboot-

"Like the recent Batman sequel -- which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far -- Mr. Robinov wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as "The Dark Knight." Creatively, he sees exploring the evil side to characters as the key to unlocking some of Warner Bros.' DC properties. "We're going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," he says. That goes for the company's Superman franchise as well."

So it looks like instead of a Superman Returns sequel, we'll get more of a reboot. I hope they keep Routh and lose Kate Bosworth as Lois but why are they making him darker?

This is the big difference, for me at least, between Superman and Batman. Batman sits around and broods while Superman actually enjoys being a superhero. The world might be dark but he, by nature is not. He's not a vigilante, has a strict moral code and always does what is right, even though it might not be in line with the status quo. Lately he seems to be ridiculed or dismissed but I've always found him to be the more admirable of the two.

With Batman, I actually find the villians more interesting than the superhero.

Dear God,

Please make Obama announce his running mate soon.

And please let it be Evan Bayh.

I've loved Evan Bayh since I was a kid and he was Govenor of my humble Hoosier state. He's an elected Democrat in a red state...and pretty hot...not Gavin Newsome hot but......

He also spoke at my brothers graduation in 1993.

The last Vice President from Indiana was Dan Quayle....I would like a chance for redemption, please.

I'm bored

Seriously bored. I'm sitting here at work staring at the clock and trying to look busy. It helps that I now have a blog. I can pretend that I'm typing up a memo when I update.....even though I don't really type up memos at the Opera....actually I do very little typing here at the Opera but whatever.

So, in trying to alleviate my boredom I started researching the Superboy TV show from the 80s. The first season has been released on DVD but no plans for the second season...which sucks because it was much better.

I'm probably the only person who remembers this show but in my boredom I started researching the actors who played Superboy.

John Haynes Newton (Left) was in season one but, due to "contract disputes" did not return and so Gerard Christopher played the Boy of Steel for the next 3 seasons.

I always thought that Gerard was hotter but I don't know right now. Newton has a lot going for him... he's been on Desperate Housewives, Melrose place and thousands of bad Sci Fi and Lifetime movies. He also now looks like this (Left) while Gerard has done nothing much but is still nice to look at (Right)
So...whose hotter. My vote goes for Newton....he can bust up my chiffarobe anytime.

"Best System Ever"!!!

The Nintendo DS Lite is the greatest thing mankind has ever created. A week ago I found two games for 10.00 each and bought them the first was Superman Returns.

Of course, I hate to get the Superman game....its matches the curtains in my bedroom.... but the game is pretty fun and the graphics are great for a handheld..... Not to mention the fact that Brandon Routh does the voice.....

The second game was The Simpsons. This one has no hot superheroes but does allow you to play every family member, exclusive animation and the original actors. Basically you have to go through several different episodes (The Land of Chocolate!!)
So basically, I will never do anything else again but play my DS.

Holy fleurking schnit!

So my co'worker and I randonly trade off who McFlurry duty. A day or two a week, one of us will head across the street to McDonalds and come back with McFlurry goodness. Today was my day.

So I come back into the building and wait 5 minutes for an elevator. 3 doors open at the same time and I step in, trying nor to drip any melted McFlurry on me. The door, after 2 minutes, finally begin to close but right as they are completely shut, a gnarled hand reaches in and they swing open again.

The gnarled hand belongs, as I soon find out, to a gnarled lady whose name I did not obtain. For the sake of this re-telling lets call her Fat Bitch 1. Her friend can be Fat Bitch 2.

Both of the F.B.s are loud as hell as they enter the elevator hitting floors 10 and 11. I have no idea what floor they really want as I get off at 8.

So it takes 2 more minutes before the elevator door closes again, and I'm getting really pissed. Not only is mu McFlurry goodness melting but I have to ride in the elevator with 2 loud ass F.B.s. I must get my revenge as they could have gotten in another elevator instead of jumpng into mine.

The bell dings at the 8th Floor and right before I get off I hit Floor 9. That was my revenge, they had to stop and the 9th floor before going wherever the hell they needed to be. I was happy with my small victory but even happier when I heard, as the doors began to close, one of the F.B.s say in a loud voice "Asshole"

Actually the "hole" part was a bit muffled as the doors had shut and the elevator began its ascent again.

I like my beer cold, my TV loud and my Homosexuals FLAMING!!!

This past week was Market Dyas in my neigborhood. For those who don't know, Market days is basically Gay Pride without the Parade. Since I live in basically means my neighborhood is overun by 150% more gays than usual. One of which was my Ex who stayed with me this past weekend.

Now, keep in mind, I had no power due to the storms until Thursday night of last week. I was off Friday trying to clean, do laundry replace the food that had spiled etc... I also had to work both Saturday and Sunday so I was in no mood to be around a million people but, since I live off the main street, it wasn't to bad except for getting to and from the train.

Now, I'm gay and I believe in equal rights for gays...marriage, jobs housing etc. However, everytime I wonder why gays do not have equal rights all I have to do is walk into a gay bar or attend one of these gay street festivals.

For example, last Thursday night I heard the following dialogue between 2 boyfriends who live in my building. They decided to discuss a private matter in the courtyard and the following was loudly declared:

Man 1: Well what was I supposed to do? The power has been out for days!
Man 2: That doesn't mean that you had to fuck him!

Its not that I don't have gay Pride or that I don't feel that people should be able to do what they want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. I just don't understand why everything "GAY" is about divas, six pack abs and bars.

On the plus side, I did buy a Superman and King Kong poster at one of the booths:)
