What a weird week

So my ex sister in law cheated on my brother and left him and my niece out to dry. She goes back and forth on wanting custody and not wanting custody. My brother had a court date for Oct 1. We all assumed everything would go fine. The judge has already given custody to my brother so we all thought it would go the same way again. Both parties are re-married, and my ex-sister in law has a newborn at home.

However, the social worker has for some reason reccomended that custody go to the mother. There was no indication as to why, my brother has always provided, my niece is in a loving home, three months into school and getting straight A's. Why would anyone reccomend changing that? There was nothing on the form to indicate why it was reccomended for the mother but it seems that it usually defaults that way.

The court date has been postponed again. This is seriously just draining me. This past 2 weeks has been nothing but a roller coaster between family members losing their jobs, the court date getting postponed etc... The plus side is that the social worker will be on the stand and judge overseeing the trialame judge who awarded my brother custody in the first place.

So that has been taking up my time lately....just worrying about my niece and brother.

Things I learned this week

1. When my boss asks me what I think of something, he really doesn't want to know. He just wants his idea repeated back to him along with the phrase "That sounds great"

2. The cast for the Christmas show I am in is full of nerds. We had a 20 minute conversation involving Star Wars and Superman before the director old us to keep it down.

3. When a Special Report comes on TV, it does NOT mean that someone found my keys.

4. When I am playing my DS on the train and a lady comes up and yells at me to give up my seat cause she is pregnant, do NOT respond by saying, "Oh, sorry, I thought you were just fat"

5. Not everyone gets my sense of humor.

I think I'm a little wiser for the journey taken...

It's "uterus", not "uteryou"

Long week last week...

My uncle's brother died in a motorcycle accident last week and so I went home to attend the funeral on Thursday. I remembered him from when I was a kid but was more there for my aunt and uncle and cousins....and as a sidenote, let me just say that Greyhound sucks.

Anyhoo, I got to meet my brother's new wife and my (new) nephew. Both of which are awesome. She had a special edition speech by Obama at the DNC four years ago that she gave me (she is also a Hillary-then-Obama supporter) and my new nephew loves Star Wars and comics and video games so we had something to talk about! So..the family is growing in a good way!

Now if only my parents would allow my boyfriend in the house......

PS: I love this picture of me and my niece.

Caution: Nerdy Blog Ahead

Superman Reboot-

"Like the recent Batman sequel -- which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far -- Mr. Robinov wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as "The Dark Knight." Creatively, he sees exploring the evil side to characters as the key to unlocking some of Warner Bros.' DC properties. "We're going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," he says. That goes for the company's Superman franchise as well."

So it looks like instead of a Superman Returns sequel, we'll get more of a reboot. I hope they keep Routh and lose Kate Bosworth as Lois but why are they making him darker?

This is the big difference, for me at least, between Superman and Batman. Batman sits around and broods while Superman actually enjoys being a superhero. The world might be dark but he, by nature is not. He's not a vigilante, has a strict moral code and always does what is right, even though it might not be in line with the status quo. Lately he seems to be ridiculed or dismissed but I've always found him to be the more admirable of the two.

With Batman, I actually find the villians more interesting than the superhero.
